Ding Dong

wave’s Christmas offering this year is a limited edition Letterpress print, using the traditional printing method with original wood and metal type.

We produced 100 prints, 50 each of two designs, which were then hand inked and printed using a Vandercook C15 Proof Press at Ink Spot Press, which is an open access print studio based in Brighton. Each poster is hand printed on recycled paper, stamped and numbered.

The phrase ‘ding dong’ was chosen as we felt it wasn’t overtly ‘Christmassy’ and the print could be displayed all year round.

Some of us associated it with ‘Ding Dong the witch is dead’ while the older ones among us immediately thought of the seductive Leslie Phillips’ catch phrase ‘I say, Ding Dong’. Feel free to let us know if you think of any more!

Shaving brush, opening night gift for that cast of Sweeney

Congratulations to Wendy, who just finished performing in Sweeney Todd at the Chichester Festival Theatre last weekend. We wish her the best of luck for when the production transfers to the West End after Christmas. And check out the gifts that Clare made the cast for the opening night!

Art in Romney Marsh

Over the summer we’ve been working with Art in Romney Marsh, a local contemporary arts project, producing promotional materials and a new website for their annual exhibition for the Coastal Currents Visual Arts Festival.

Art in Romney Marsh provides an opportunity for artists to create site specific work in response to the inspiring medieval churches of Romney Marsh. The juxtaposition of contemporary art and the ancient church sites creates an opportunity for an exciting dialogue between the ancient and modern.

The exhibition continues to run over the first two weekends of October, in five of the medieval churches on Romney Marsh. For full venue details visit the website.

w of the month

Found some time to have a nose around the London Design Festival at the weekend and naturally gravitated towards the bright flashing typography. It’s not really a W of the month, but I thought it made an acceptable stand-in.

Old wave

This gem of a photo was unearthed from our metaphorical attic (ahem…archive server). Particularly loving the array of 90′s knitwear. Classic.
