Discovering the Arctic

Discovering the Arctic features a host of engaging resources including original video, photography and multimedia activities, and aims to provide GCSE students with an exciting tool for studying the consequences of climate change.

Students are guided around some of the coldest places on earth by the people who live and work there, including scientists, tour guides and the Captain of an icebreaker.

As with our award-winning website Discovering Antarctica, this site is an interactive educational resource for schools produced with the Royal Geographic Society, who in turn partnered with the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), the British Antarctic Survey, and the Scottish Association for Marine Science.

In 2010, Discovering the Arctic won a SIlver Award from the Geographical Association

wave conceptualised and designed the entire site including the Flash activities and graphic assets. The site is hosted with a 100% solar powered internet service provider.

Each topic is covered in depth, and spiced up with a wide range of media including interactive games, movies, sound recordings and downloadables.
